Welcome to Year 3!
This spring half term, we are going to be delving into the land of fairy tales and fantasy! We have been visited by a certain Giant’s teddy, Sir Snugglepaws, who has been left to us all the way from the castle above the beanstalk by Jack! In our English lessons we will be writing a letter to the giant. After this, we will be going deeper into fantasy land and looking at the poem the Jabberwock, reading, deciphering and even performing the traditional poem.
But it doesn’t stop there! We have many things going on throughout the curriculum. In our history topic, we are looking at two influential figures and how they have changed the world, Florence Nightingale and Queen Victoria I. On top of this, in our Art & Design, we are becoming digital artists by re-creating our own versions of work by the famous painter Arcimboldo.
In Science, we are looking at keeping our bodies healthy, as well as how our bodies work. That’s not all! We have a whole curriculum of subjects that are being covered! If you’d like to take a peek at what we are covering, please refer to our whole class curriculum overview.
Please see the attached curriculum overview for more details about our learning in the Spring term, and progression of learning throughout the year.

P.E / Things to remember:
★ Tuesday and Thursday are our P.E days. You will need to come into school in your P.E kits and will return home in these at the end of the day. Our P.E sessions could be outside, so you may wear tracksuit bottoms, P.E top, school jumper and trainers.
★ Spellings are given out weekly on Seesaw.
★ Reading records should be kept in your child’s bag. We will give your child a new book when they bring their reading book and record in, signed. The days to check these are Monday and Thursday.
★ We visit the school library once every two weeks on Fridays! To help us with the book change, if your child wants to change their book, please could they return them on Thursdays.
We look forward to a wonderful half term together!
Mrs Gill
