Autumn 1 EYFS
Welcome to the EYFS page. As you know, our teachers are Mrs Barnes and Mrs Bourne. Mrs Barnes takes the lead on a Monday-Wednesday and Mrs Bourne on a Thursday and Friday, although Mrs Bourne is in class all week. We are very happy that Mrs J, will also be working with us on a Thursday and Friday.
We will be settling the children into school life this half term, supporting them with the new routines in our class, helping them to make friends, finding out what they know and then continuing to help them develop along their learning journey. We use a theme of ‘Amazing Me!’ to talk about themselves, their family, likes and lots of other things. You can find out about our learning over the year here EYFS 2026-2027
We will also carry out the government baseline assessments early in the term – please see Seesaw for infromation about these.

Our PE sessions will be on a WEDNESDAY and a FRIDAY and we will let you know via Seesaw when these will begin formally and your child will need to wear their PE kit. Children come to school dressed in their PE kit and stay in it all day. If they attend a sporting after school club at any point in the year, they will need to wear their PE kit on those days too. Please remember that your childwill need any earrings or any other jewellery removed on PE days.
We learn outdoors in all weathers, so children do need a waterproof/warm coat – as you know, the weather in our country can be very temperamental! All children need some wellies in school in a bag, for us to use with our outdoor learning, thank you for this.
Our class Governors this year are Mr Teague and Mr Jenkins and we hope to see them soon. Our governors like to come and find out what we are learning and join in our classroom fun!

Growth Mindset
One of the things we focus on in our school is having a Growth Mindset, rather than thinking we can’t do things, saying we might not be able to do things yet.

In the Reception class the children take part in activities and experiences linked to the EYFS framework. The children work within three Prime and four Specific Areas of Learning and Development, to enable them to learn and develop at their own rate to reach their potential. These Areas of Learning are:
Personal, Social and Emotional Development Physical Development
Communication and Language Mathematics
Literacy Understanding the World Expressive Arts and Design
• Each Friday we have a Christian Values worship within school and then at the end of the half term a celebration worship, where we invite soem parents. We will let you know if your child is receiving a celebration certificate prior to the worship at the end of the half term, so you can hopefully attend on the Friday morning and celebrate with us.
