Year 3

Year 3 2025-2026 updated March 2026

Summer Overview 2026

Welcome to Summer term in Year 3!

During the summer term in Year 3, we are in for a big learning journey! A lot of our learning is going to be around the historical focus of ‘THE VIKINGS!’. We are going to be diving deep into everything Viking related, including creating our own narrative based on the story ‘Arthur and the Golden Rope’, creating our own Viking play scripts and looking at Viking related poetry. As well as this we will be creating our own Viking inspired textiles and looking at leverages and linkages to create a Viking long ship…we are going VIKING MAD!

As well as all of this historical work, we are working extremely hard throughout the entire curriculum.

Please see the attached curriculum overview for more details about our learning in the Spring term, and progression of learning throughout the year.

Meet the Year 3 Team:

Class teacher – Miss Jordan

Teaching Assistant – Mrs Turner

R.E and Music teacher (Wednesday Afternoons) – Mrs Teague

Class Governors – Mrs Howe

P.E / Things to remember:

★ On Wednesday afternoons, we are going to Penwortham leisure centre to take part in our swimming lessons! Please ensure your child brings in a bag with their swimming kit. This should include:

– Swimming costume or swimming trunks

– A towel

– A swimming hat

★ Thursday is our P.E day. You will need to come into school in your P.E kits and will return home in these at the end of the day. Our P.E sessions could be outside, so you may wear tracksuit bottoms, P.E top, school jumper and trainers.

★ Spellings are given out weekly on Seesaw.

★ Reading records should be kept in your child’s bag. We will give your child a new book when they bring their reading book and record in, signed. The days to check these are Tuesday and Thursday.

★ We visit the school library once every two weeks on Fridays! To help us with the book change, if your child wants to change their book, please could they return them on Thursdays.

We look forward to a wonderful half term together!

Miss Jordan
