Summer Term in EYFS

Welcome to the EYFS page. As you know, our teachers are Mrs Barnes and Mrs Bourne.  Due to staffing changes, Mrs Ashby will be supporting in Year 2 this half term but will be in class with us on a Thursday and Friday afternoon.  Mrs Barnes takes the lead on a Monday-Wednesday and Mrs Bourne on a Thursday and Friday, although Mrs Bourne is in class all week. Mrs Carlton will also be working with us on a Thursday and Friday for most of the term.

Please look at the overview for this half term to see what your child will be working on in class.

Summer 2 2025

We are really excited to be visiting Bring Yer Wellies on 19th June – please see the letter sent from the office for details. We will send more information on Seesaw just before we go. https://www.bringyerwellies.co.uk/

EYFS 2024-2025

You can support the learning this half term by using the ‘Learning at home’ activities https://www.coplaneprimary.co.uk/our-classes/reception/learning-at-home/

PE continues to be on a WEDNESDAY and a FRIDAY. Please remember that your child needs to come to school in their Cop Lane school PE kit on these days and have any earrings or any other jewellery removed.

Please remember that we learn outdoors in all weathers, so children do need a waterproof coat, even as the weather becomes warmer – as you know, the weather in our country can be very temperamental!  All children have their wellies in school in a bag, for us to use with our outdoor learning.

Our class Governors this year are Mrs Cookson and Mrs Webster and we are looking forward to seeing them again and hope they can spend some time with us in class.

We will keep sharing information and photographs with you via Seesaw, so please check regularly.

Growth Mindset

One of the things we focus on in our school is having a Growth Mindset, rather than thinking we can’t do things, saying we might not be able to do things yet.

This link explains it a little bit more

https://www.bbc.co.uk/cbeebies/grownups/help-your-child-try-new-things

In the Reception class the children take part in activities and experiences linked to the EYFS framework. A new framework became statutory in 2021. The children work within three Prime and four Specific Areas of Learning and Development, to enable them to learn and develop at their own rate to reach their potential.  These Areas of Learning are:

Personal, Social and Emotional Development         Physical Development

Communication and Language              Mathematics

Literacy         Understanding the World        Expressive Arts and Design

•    At the end of each fortnight we choose children who have impressed us in some way to receive a Superstar certificate, which is presented in the key stage Superstar worship on Friday morning.  If your child receives the award, we will let you know via text message and SeeSaw on the Thursday and you can attend the worship on the Friday morning.
•    We hope you will find this information useful. Please feel free to contact us via the main office and we can give you a call.
Thank you for your support.
