Welcome to Year 4!
Meet the Year 4 Team:
Class teacher – Miss Jordan.
Teaching Assistants – Miss Binks.
Class Governors – Mrs Howe and Ms Staton
This autumn term, Year 4 are set for an exciting adventure filled with mystery, discovery and creativity! We will begin our English journey on the shores of Loch Ness in Scotland, where we will investigate one of the world’s greatest mysteries: does Nessie really exist? Exploring eyewitness accounts, photographs and evidence from the archives, we will become detectives and use our reading, writing and reasoning skills to form our own conclusions. As the term continues, we will travel back in time and enjoy writing inspired by the much-loved cartoon The Family Ness. Through a range of engaging texts, we will develop our vocabulary, strengthen our writing skills and, most importantly, foster a lifelong love of reading.
In Maths, we will build confidence with place value, addition and subtraction using both mental and formal written methods. We will also develop our understanding of multiplication and division, applying our knowledge to solve increasingly challenging problems.
But that is not all! Across the wider curriculum, we will be exploring a variety of exciting subjects and developing new skills along the way. If you would like to find out more about what we are learning this term, please take a look at our curriculum overview. Please see the attached curriculum overview for further details about our learning during the Autumn term and how our knowledge and skills will develop throughout the year.
Important Information:
– Wednesday and Thursday are our P.E days. You will need to come into school in your P.E kits and will return home in these at the end of the day. Our P.E sessions could be outside, so you may wear tracksuit bottoms, P.E top, school jumper and trainers.
– Reading records should be kept in your child’s bag at home. We will give your child a new book on Monday and/or Thursday when they have finished it and it’s signed.
– Mrs Teague teaches Year 4 on a Monday morning and a Tuesday afternoon.
– Spellings are given out fortnightly, on Seesaw.
We look forward to a wonderful half term together!
Miss Jordan and Miss Binks.
