Healthy Eating at Cop Lane
Due to serious allergies please could we ask that foods containing nuts are not brought into school.
At Cop Lane Primary school we have a healthy eating policy that encourages children to make healthy food choices. EYFS and KS1 children are part of the National fruit scheme, which provides a piece of fruit for every child each day. In KS2 children are encouraged to buy toast at morning playtime, paid for via the Eduspot link. Please contact the office for more details.
Good news! Cop Lane has recently been awarded the ‘Quality Mark Status’ for Healthy Eating from the Lancashire Healthy Schools team.
Here is the latest menu from the catering team.
We encourage healthy eating through the choices in the canteen and through the self serve salad bar in the hall.
Lunch box ideas
Sometimes, parents and children run out of ideas for attractive yet reasonably nutritious lunches. The following contains lunch box suggestions, some recipe ideas and links to other websites with ideas. We’ve also included a few tips, which will hopefully help to make lunchtimes run more smoothly for all.
* Due to serious allergies please could we ask that foods containing nuts are not brought into school.
* Children are encouraged to have something filling (such as a sandwich) as part of their lunch. Small pieces of fruit are also encouraged. With regard to infants, it is very helpful if sandwiches are cut into small, manageable portions e.g. finger-size, and if fruit is peeled.
* Please note that fizzy drinks are not allowed. We encourage healthier juices or water.
* If including treats in the lunchbox, fun-size bars are recommended in preference to the larger varieties.
